AND LLLLLL artist run space – Reinhold Zisser The new art space for contemporary artists dealing with questions of public space is the first in Vienna to be explicitly dedicated to this topic. In 2024, the activities in the art space are closely linked to the project SEE:UA connecting landscapes.

danach: Get-together in Kunstraum Seestadt

Public art has been a feature of Seestadt since its inception and has developed a tradition over time. The longest-running project in this context is the work of the Viennese artist and curator Reinhold Zisser, who initiated the Notgalerie in 2017. This summer, the artist developed a land art project together with a group of Ukrainian artists, turning Seestadt into a large experimental art laboratory. It provided a framework for a community of Ukrainian artists and their colleagues to explore concepts of landscape, urban transformation, displacement, and homeland. This program is complemented by the new art space □□□□□■ (LLLLLL, artist run space). It is the first art space in Vienna explicitly dedicated to the topic of public art. Its task is to work in synergy with public art projects and to reflect on and communicate them through the possibilities of an exhibition space.

Website of the exhibition space: www.LLLLLL.at

The artistic works, distributed across the undeveloped area of the urban development district and entering into a dialogue with Seestadt, will be presented by the artist in person from 3-4 pm in a guided tour as part of the Open Studio Days. Meeting point at the container Info-Bar-Symposium. Location see www.notgalerie.at/see-ua

About

has been located in Seestadt since the end of 2023 and is an exhibition space for contemporary artists who deal with questions of public space. It is the first art space in Vienna to explicitly dedicate itself to this topic. Artists thus have the opportunity to use the precise presentation possibilities offered by the modern and purist room structure of the exhibition space in Vienna's largest urban expansion area. In 2024, the space will be interlinked with the art in public space project SEE:UA Connecting landscapes and will serve as a central location for the project in this function, hosting a series of exhibitions, workshops and events for artists and visitors.

SEE:UA connecting landscapes

From the end of June to October 2024, an art in public space project will take place in Seestadt, together with a group of Ukraine-based curators and artists. The invited actors fulfilled central artistic positions in the Land Art Symposium Mohrytsia, one of the most important land art platforms in Ukraine, which connects artists across different generations. In 2022 the symposium was canceled due to the Russian invasion, and in 2023 it was still unsafe to hold it in, the village of Mohrytsia, as it is located only five kilometers from the Russian border.
